The purple butterfly is the symbol of Lupus and the butterfly rash that a lot of patients get across the bridge of our noses and onto our cheeks. This usually shows up just before or during a flare up. I've come to embrace it, as I have always loved butterflies and the color purple. Funny fact: my 1st grade teacher told my parents that I was a "Social Butterfly", (basically meaning that I talked a lot, LOL!). Lupus Awareness month is May (and National Fibromyalgia day is May 12). You can support us by donning some purple butterflies and ordering the specialty candles!
